A Mighty Fortress Is Our God

Time for the Saturday Psalm & Praise! This week, it's "A Mighty Fortress is our God". I enjoy singing this song as a reminder that no matter what happens, good or bad, God is ultimately in control! "The body they may kill; God's truth abideth still; His kingdom is forever."

A mighty fortress is our God,
a bulwark never failing;
our helper he amid the flood
of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
doth seek to work us woe;
his craft and power are great,
and armed with cruel hate,
on earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide,
our striving would be losing,
were not the right man on our side,
the man of God's own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be?
Christ Jesus, it is he;
Lord Sabbaoth, his name,
from age to age the same,
and he must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled,
should threaten to undo us,
we will not fear, for God hath willed
his truth to triumph through us.
The Prince of Darkness grim,
we tremble not for him;
his rage we can endure,
for lo, his doom is sure;
one little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers,
no thanks to them, abideth;
the Spirit and the gifts are ours,
thru him who with us sideth.
Let goods and kindred go,
this mortal life also;
the body they may kill;
God's truth abideth still;
his kingdom is forever.

Saturday Psalm & Praise: All People That On Earth Do Dwell

I'm joining in the Saturday Psalm and Praise for the first time this week! I think it a lovely idea, it's a great way to prepare for the Lord's day. You also see that I don't think about politics all the time! :-) This week I'm posting "All People That on Earth Do Dwell", one of my favorite hymns. The second and fourth verses are my favorite parts of the hymn. Join me in praise of our King!

* * * * *

All people that on earth do dwell,
sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.
Him serve with mirth, his praise forth tell;
come ye before him and rejoice.

Know that the Lord is God indeed;
without our aid he did us make;
we are his folk, he doth us feed,
and for his sheep he doth us take.

O enter then his gates with praise;
approach with joy his courts unto;
praise, laud, and bless his name always,
for it is seemly so to do.

For why! the Lord our God is good;
his mercy is forever sure;
his truth at all times firmly stood,
and shall from age to age endure.

Great Political Reading

This past week, I've been enjoying the insight of Chuck Muth at Muth's Truths. He has some great articles that I encourage you to read! I will directly link to some of my favorites:

What is a Conservative?

“Allowing for differences I would define a conservative, first as one who believes in the Constitution as it is written. That takes care of free speech, freedom of religion, the right to petition the government, the right to keep and bear arms and, in the words of William O. Douglas in one of his saner moments, ‘the right to be let alone.’
“Second, a conservative believes in small, limited government at every level. Along with this he believes strongly in individual responsibility. That is, a person or a family should take care of itself and turn for help to government only when all other means have been exhausted. It also means that society, before government, has a duty to take care of its own. Government should be a resource of last resort.
“Third, a conservative believes taxes should be levied for the purpose of financing the limited responsibilities of government such as providing for the common defense, catching and incarcerating criminals, minting money and filling potholes. Taxes should not be levied for the purpose of redistributing wealth.
“That’s about it. I know there are those who say a conservative should be pro-life, which I am, but I’m not sure a person has to be that to qualify as a conservative. Nor am I sure that a person must be opposed to pornography, which I am. In both cases there are questions of individual rights and responsibilities which are arguable.
“One other thing I think a conservative believes is that the parents, not government, are and should be responsible for the upbringing and behavior of their children.”

- Lyn Nofziger, a close advisor to Ronald Reagan

Does This Describe You?

"As an American citizen, while I will show respect to President-elect Obama, I oppose the far-Left and socialistic elements that comprise the centerpiece of his agenda. I recognize that it will take a patriotic and resilient Citizen Resistance to block implementation of this agenda and I join with others who oppose these threats to our liberties. "

Then go here and join the resistance.

We Need A Revolution

To clarify, the definition of revolution (taken from dictionary.com) that I'll be using is "A total or radical change; as, a revolution in one's circumstances or way of living."

I believe in the sovereignty of God. He is in control. We are not to put our trust in man (Psalm 146:3), but in the living God - only He can save us! I do not think that means that we are to sit back and placidly accept everything that happens. Simply because God has allowed this to happen, I do not think that Christians should just accept it and move on. Obama may be the presumptive president-elect, but does that mean we are to do nothing to try and pull our country out of the immoral sludge it is gradually falling into?

In the words of II Chronicles 7:14, we need to call on God. Repent of our wicked ways and then turn away from them. We must humble ourselves before God and call on Him to save our land. We need Him to pour out His mercy on our land. On our own, we can do nothing. Ask for His helping in taking our country back to the place where it needs to be.

The next step is to be ready to fight. Taking America back won't be easy. By our complacency, we have let America backslide, step-by-step. We have let the little things slide, thinking that they were meaningless battles. Yet nothing is too small to not bring about change. America is in the state it is today because we have set back and allowed the abortion and gay rights activist to take over. Too long have people thought that there is nothing they can do to change this country. There are many things we can - and should - do as American citizens. I encourage you to exercise your right to vote. Contact your representatives and let them know what you expect from them, and your thoughts on different bills that are proposed. Hold your representatives accountable. Read the constitution. The most important thing we can do is something we have been commanded to do - pray for our leaders, that we may live quiet and peaceable lives.

We should honor those in authority over us, but that does not mean we don't oppose them when they go against the word of God. But that is a topic for another blog post...

Dear friends, join me in prayer for this country and our leaders. Join me in the fight to take America back.

Sewing in the 21st Century

Here's the dilemma. You need a pattern - and quick - but just can't find the right "Big 4" pattern in the store. You don't have time to wait for a pattern arrive in the mail. Your favorite pattern has missing or torn pieces. However, thanks to the technology of the 21st century, I introduce to you... [drumroll, please] ePatterns ! Put your order in for one of these lovely patterns, and instantly you can print off the size and pieces you need. (Does instant gratification get any better than this?) Forget having to look through that stack of patterns for an essential missing pattern piece. No longer do you have to trace off different sizes. And forget being completely prepared to begin on your project - pins, pattern and fabric at the ready - only to be dismayed because of the pieces is missing and nowhere to be found. With ePatterns, just print-and-sew! With this kind of ease and convience, I have little to no excuse for not sewing...just add printer and fabric!

The Time Draweth Nigh

Tomorrow, it'll (hopefully!) be over, the conclusion of what we have been hearing for nearly the past two years. Personally, I'll be glad when it's all over! The thing that has annoyed me the most...Polls. Everyday a new poll. Really, I don't care how X number of people answered a pollster. I'm still trying to understand how a small number of people can possibly shed led out how the election is going to turn out. I say we ban polls! They are only right a certain percentage of the time anyway...did you know Reagan didn't lead at all in the polls the last few weeks of the election?

I do, however, encourage everyone to head to their local polling location tomorrow and vote!

Special Day!

"Birthdays are good for you. Statistics show that the people who have the most live the longest."

There is something special about having one's birthday fall on the Lord's Day. I have enjoyed the opportunity to worship Him today! I am thankful that He gave me another year of serving Him. Lord willing, I look forward to another year of serving the King!

Soli Deo Gloria,
